‘A Better Me’ is our winter campaign which is all about supporting adults to make small lifestyle changes and achieve a healthier future.
The name of the game is to ‘Eat Well and Move More’ which is achieved through establishing healthy eating habits for life and incorporating a little extra physical activity into busy daily routines.
The purpose of our campaign is to build and sustain knowledge of healthy lifestyle choices in a bid to reduce the incidence of certain long-term conditions in people aged over 30 in North Somerset.
It’s not about making sacrifices; it’s about making small changes stick until they become a habit. For example, enjoying an indulgent hot chocolate and a cookie could add up to over 700 calories while a cup of tea and digestive comes in at less than 100.
North Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group’s website has a wealth of healthy living information available, which can signpost you to local support services which will help these changes seem more manageable in your busy day-to-day life. This covers everything from stopping smoking, exercise and healthy eating, free NHS Health checks and more. Visit https://www.northsomersetccg.nhs.uk/your-health-local-services/healthy-living/
NHS Choices' Live Well initiative also has an array of advice and support, including a 12 week diet and exercise plan, to help you develop healthier eating habits and get more active. Visit http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Pages/Livewellhub.aspx
So make 2017 your year to become A Better Me!
