Quality and patient safety is a key priority for us. With patients at the heart of everything we do, we want to ensure your contact with us and our staff is high-quality, safe and effective.
We are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The CQC makes sure hospitals, care homes, dental and GP surgeries and all other care services in England, provide people with safe, effective, compassionate and high quality care. It also encourages services to make improvements if they are needed.
The CQC does this by inspecting us and our services and publishing the results on their website to help you make better decisions about the care you receive.
The role of the CQC is to monitor whether our services are providing care that is legally compliant with the Health and Social Care Act 2008, and its subsequent regulations, by meeting the CQC's published quality and safety standards. When we registered with the CQC we assessed our services against these standards and following CQC review we received our CQC registration certificates.
CQC monitor our performance all the time and at a minimum of every five years they will visit our service locations unannounced to observe the service being delivered and to talk to patients, carers, families and staff. CQC can also contact or visit us at any time if they wish to investigate a concern they have about a particular service.
In essence they make sure are services are safe, effective, well-led, responsive and above all, caring. This complements our own values of quality, effectiveness, integrity, respect and partnership.
Principles of the CQC
Throughout everything the CQC does, it always:
- puts people who use our services at the heart of its work
- has an open and accessible culture
- is independent, rigorous, fair and consistent
- works in partnership across the health and social care system
- is committed to being a high-performing organisation
- promotes equality, diversity and human rights.
