Mary Lewis

Prior to joining NSCP in 2016, Mary worked at the Royal United Hospital in Bath as Deputy Director of Nursing.

Mary trained at Great Ormond Street and Middlesex Hospitals in a combination of adult and children’s nursing; and then as a Health Visitor. Mary then led a community nursing team for children with long-term and life threatening conditions for many years before taking on the role of Executive Nurse with Bath and North East Somerset Primary Care Trust.

Mary set up and held the position of Trustee on the Lifetime Children’s Trust, a charity which works with children who have life limiting conditions.

Mary held an Honorary Fellowship with the University of the West of England in Bristol where she produced publications and articles on subjects relating to children with complex needs in the community.

Mary is currently a trustee of the Research Institute for Care of the Elderly (RICE). The research carried out at RICE covers a wide variety of areas and is intended to advance the knowledge and treatment of the more serious conditions affecting older people, in particular Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia and to improve their quality of life. RICE also runs Memory Clinics to provide an in-depth assessment for people with memory problems, Alzheimer's disease and related conditions

Mary is married with a son, a daughter and two miniature schnauzer and lives in between Bath and Bristol. Mary's pastimes include a love of music, walking and reading, particularly novels with lots of mystery and intrigue.
